First Aid - 2 day workshop

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings.
This unit of competence is the training required for the majority of people requiring a First Aid Certificate.
HLTAID003 Provide First Aid can be completed in 1 day face to face training and assessment with prior completion of the workbook or 2 days face to face training and assessment
In a 1 day course the workbook is designed to replace one full day’s training and it should take you from four to eight hours to complete. It does not need to be in a single session; it can be done over a number of days, but it must be completed prior to attending the training day.
The workbook contains the theory you need to know before you attend the face-to-face training which will focus on the practical skills and assessment. The face-to-face training combines the theory you learn from the workbook and the practical skill you learn in the training room.
For the workbook option to be effective, you need to study it. This means reading the content of the book. Merely finding the answers to the questions at the back of the book does not provide you with the detailed information required to identify illnesses and injuries from observations you make in the event of an accident.
You get to keep the book as a reference after the training day, but bring the whole book with you.
On successful assessment of competency the Provide First Aid Statement of Attainment has a 3 year timeframe for renewal.

If the thought of reading and completing a workbook is not for you and you prefer an interactive training experience, join us for one of our Two Day First Aid courses. Everyone should know how to deal with an emergency situation – you could save someone’s life!

It is a course requirement that you are able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resusciation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resusciation manikan placed on the floor, and perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.

Registered Training Organisation: Community College Northern Inland Inc (RTO#: 90027)

Please Note: It is required, during the assessment, for Provide First Aid and/or CPR courses that demonstration of CPR must be done on the floor. Students will be required to complete 2 demonstrations, each of 4 minutes duration, before the trainer/assessor can sign off competency and your Statement of Attainment can be issued. You must be prepared to be kneeling for up to 10 minutes during the CPR component assessment time

Assessments are made against units of competency.
