Bar Skills
Course Aims:
On completion of this course, participants will have a basic understanding of the skills needed and the tasks to be undertaken to operate a bar. Persons who successfully complete will also have the skills to prepare and serve a range of alcoholic beverages. This will be arranged before the course is undertaken.
Course Content:
On successful completion of this course participants will have an understanding of:
- Set up the bar display and work area.
- Take orders and either note or memorise correctly.
- Identify any specific customer preferences.
- Receive and process customer payments. Serve drinks promptly and courteously, in accordance with customer preferences, using required glassware and garnishes.
- Prepare drinks in accordance with legal and enterprise standards, using the correct equipment, ingredients and correct standard measures.
- Minimise wastage and spillage.
- Report beverage quality issues promptly to the appropriate person.
- Attend to any mishaps, promptly and safely.
- Clear, clean or dismantle bar areas in accordance with enterprise procedures.
- Where appropriate, conduct a handover to incoming bar staff, and share relevant information.
Pre-requisite
Students must be 18 years or older.
Participants must hold SITXFSA201 – Participate in safe food handling practices.
This training will be delivered and assessed by Coates Hospitality Services, trading as Australian Training & Consulting (ATAC) - RTO ID 90866. Statements of Attainment will be issued by ATAC.
